We have officially started construction on the second and final phase of 40 new homes at The Grange, our successful development in Goonhavern, near Newquay.

The first phase of 30 homes is now complete and fully reserved. Phase Two will complete the wider 70-home community just five miles southwest of Newquay.

The new phase will include a mix of open-market and affordable homes, ranging from one-bedroom apartments to larger four- and five-bedroom family homes. Of the 40 homes, 23 will be affordable homes delivered in partnership with Ocean Housing. These will include one-bedroom apartments, two- to four-bedroom houses and two wheelchair-accessible bungalows, available for a combination of rent and shared ownership.

Nick Long, Managing Director at Legacy Properties, said: “The Grange has already proved incredibly popular, with every home in Phase One now sold and a strong sense of community established. Starting construction on Phase Two is an important milestone and allows us to complete the development as originally intended.

“Clearance and enabling works have now taken place to prepare the site, roads and infrastructure, and we are now commencing construction on the first homes in this next phase. The scheme will deliver much-needed open-market and affordable homes, while continuing the design approach, energy efficiency and local character that have made The Grange such a success.”

Homes at The Grange will be built to modern energy-efficiency standards, with features including EV charging, efficient water and energy systems, and materials chosen to reflect Cornwall’s rural vernacular. Natural slate roofs, stone and smooth render finishes will sit alongside new green corridors, wildflower meadows and enhanced Cornish hedgerows.

The development will also include landscaped public open space, pedestrian links and ecological buffer zones adjoining nearby woodland and watercourses.

Works at The Grange follow the recent start of construction at The Paddocks, a new 83-home community in Trispen. Other new homes nearing completion include Upton Green development in Bude, and Roselyon in Par.
